To rise each time you fall

Standard

For the second year in a row, Miss USA, this time Texan Crystle Stewart, fell down after she tripped on her gown during the final 10’s evening gown competition in the recently concluded Miss Universe 2008 held in Nha Trang, Vietnam. This time, however, no boos coming from the audience as what happened to Rachel Smith in Mexico last year. Miss Venezuela was proclaimed Miss Universe 2008.

With this, I also remembered what happened to Miriam Quiambao of the Philippines in 1991 in the same beauty pageant. But Miriam was loved even more after her fall in the preliminaries and was even very close to winning the crown. To graciously rise and move on after the fall – something that I can relate to.It’s a cliché though but something everybody must always remember as a guide.Everything should not stop right there and then. Life must go on.It is difficult after those embarrassments and pains, but to persevere despite those lows and blows in order to attain whatever ambition or goals you have is something sweeter, more fulfilling and more meaningful.

I wish I could muster that courage with my can of coke.
